Two men and a woman were arrested Sunday after police found open containers of alcohol and bags of a “green leafy substance” and “white powder and rock substances” in a car in the Longs area.
Reginald Devone Hemingway, 39, of Longs, was charged with having an open container of beer in the silver Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving on Bombing Range Road shortly after 2 a.m., according to a police report.
He also was charged with possessing less than one gram of crack cocaine, possessing cocaine and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, according to online jail records.
A passenger in the car, Amanda Michelle Kaisk, 40, of Little River, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a schedule IV drug and possessing contraband at the jail, according to jail records.
The name of a third passenger, also arrested at the scene on an active bench warrant, was redacted from the censored police report.
The suspect was later identified as 53-year-old Paul Jerry Vaught of Longs, who was wanted on a family court violation.
According to the report, police were conducting patrols on Bombing Range Road in the Longs area when an officer noticed the Tahoe pull off on the left shoulder of the road to talk to an “unknown person” who approached the car.
Officers initiated a traffic stop on the Tahoe after it ventured back on the road and pulled off onto another shoulder, according to the report.
Beside the driver, police said, they noticed an open Bud Light bottle in the center console and another open container “appearing cold” near the feet of the front seat passenger.
Police said they also found a brown cigar wrapper containing a green leafy substance and a large quantity of cash in the center console.
