The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has started accepting applications for medical marijuana registry identification cards.
The application for a patient card is available online at www.healthy.arkansas.gov or paper form by contacting the ADH at 501-661-2000 or 1-800-462-0599. Patients are strongly encouraged to apply online, as phoning to request may overwhelm the ADH. To qualify, the patient will need written certification on an official ADH form from a Dr showing they have a qualifying condition. Those forms became available to doctors on June 23rd.
Only Arkansas residents can apply for the registry and must provide a copy of a valid Arkansas drivers license or another official ID issued by Arkansas. There is also a $50 fee to apply and must be renewed annually. Currently the fee to renew is set at $50.
Once a patient is registered and issued a card, they can purchase medical marijuana at a licensed dispensary. Cards will be issued to patients that qualify about 30 days before dispensaries open. It is estimated medical marijuana dispensaries will open in early 2018, as just last week The Medical Marijuana Commission released a dispensary zone map as well an application to grow and a separate application to dispense marijuana.
