The Little Rock Fire Department has released video of persons of interest in a fire at a local school’s playground that authorities are now calling suspicious.
The Gibbs Magnet Elementary School playground was set ablaze Friday night.
The fire department got to the scene at 6 p.m. and extinguished the flames in 15 minutes.
Fire Captain Jacob Lear-Sadowsky says the fire appears suspect because witnesses claim to have seen several individuals near the scene of the fire both before and after the blaze.
“There’s four video clips – each about 10 seconds each – and they show some people kind of going into the area – and then some people leaving the area,” the fire captain said. “And then a short time after that, a fire develops where they had been.”
This isn’t the first playground fire in the Little Rock School District. Last summer, there were a string of playground fires – one at Chicot Elementary School and the other at George Washington Carver Magnet Elementary School.
Officials are asking anyone with information on the fire to call the Little Rock Fire Department.
The school district says you can also submit tips to them through the LRSD app.
